Blink 182- Bored to Death Track Review

After five years of fun, a pretty alright return record in 2011 and Tom DeLonge leaving the band once

again, the band is back again. This time around, they have recruited Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio fame and

make their long awaited return with the track Bored to Death. Many fans have been worried about the

replacement of Tom and have even gone as far as saying the band should call it a day. I should admit

that I was one of those people, but this track came out and I have been proved wrong. “Bored to Death”

is a Mark Hoppus led track, but Matt Skiba does shine in here too. Listening to it, I can hear why they

chose Matt and the vocal chemistry is clear. The track has this story telling and dreamy feel to it, all

while still feeling very pop punk. Classic Blink immaturity is still in their sound, but lyrics and overall

instrumentation sounds mature. My favorite part of this track is the chorus. It has such a grand sound

and I am sure that this will be a live anthem when they go on tour. Overall this track is a winner and I am

really happy that it turned out better than I was expecting. It defied all odds and starts the hype train for

their new record called California, coming out July 21.
